Amateur Advising
The advisors at 404 Baseball have negotiated millions of dollars in contracts through the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft and have been advising families for many years. The draft is one of the most grueling and overwhelming processes an athlete and his family can endure. A player’s professional aspirations intensify during his years of draft eligibility. Parents and the player are constantly bombarded by questions and comments ranging from their major league goals to whether to accept a particular signing bonus. At 404 Baseball, we strive to help athletes and their families fully understand all of the options they have in the days, weeks, and months prior to enterting the draft process.
Our philosophy with regard to amateurs has always centered around two major principles: maintaining a player’s amateur eligibility so as not to jeopardize their standing as a student-athlete; and educating both the player and the family on the realities of entering professional baseball. We strongly believe that our job is to provide education and information to allow the family and player to make the best and most informed decision possible.
As family advisors, we counsel players and their families on the steps to take in order to maximize their draft potential. Every 404 Baseball advisee will have a personalized timeline designed to maximize exposure, increase visibility, and improve knowledge of the draft process to put each client in the best position for the draft.
