1. Will communication with a 404 Baseball representative have an impact on my NCAA eligibility status? An agent at 404 Baseball Group may serve as an “advisor” to a player and their family at any point in an amateur career without jeopardizing NCAA eligibility. Amateur players are not permitted to accept anything of value or sign any documentation regarding representation with an agency or that player will lose their amateur status. 404 Baseball Group is committed to ensuring that amateur athletes retain their status and does not jeopardize this in any way.
2. What does it mean to be a MLBPA Certified Agent? 404 Baseball Group has had MLBPA certified agents on staff since the company’s inception. The MLBPA certification process is made up of two components. The first requires a player on a Major League Baseball 40 man roster to designate the agent as their representative. The second involves an extensive investigation into the agent’s educational and employment background, specifically focusing on any act that would put into question the agent’s integrity or ethical standing.
3. Can 404 Baseball Group help me find endorsement and equipment opportunities? Yes, we believe in providing opportunities for our clients that will allow them to market their own personal brand across different avenues of the media . 404 Baseball Group has working relationships in a wide range of industries to provide clients with a variety of marketing alternatives. Individual endorsement opportunities are also available and are negotiated on a case by case basis.
4. Do the agents at 404 Baseball Group have baseball playing experience? The staff at 404 Baseball believes that an agent cannot truly know what a client’s needs are without having walked in his shoes in the past. As ex collegiate and professional players, the entire staff at 404 Baseball has extensive playing experience and are familiar with the daily challenges of playing baseball at both the professional and collegiate levels.
5. Does 404 Baseball Group have established relationships with professional scouting departments? It is 404 Baseball’s relationships with professional scouts that make the firm truly unique. Many of these relationships developed years ago during the staff’s playing days in collegiate and professional baseball. Since then, the agents at 404 have worked with their scouting contacts to maximize exposure for their clients and provide critical feedback throughout the athletes career.
6. How many players do you typically advise each year in the draft? 404 Baseball Group was founded on the principles of a boutique agency, as such, the firm advises a select group of players and their families through the MLB Amateur Draft each year. The staff believes in providing unmatched service and personal attention to clients with a focus on that player as an individual rather than a number on a client list.
